I have booked a hard boat out of Largs for Saturday 9th May.  This is on the west coast on the Clyde.  It will probably be scenic dives but may possibly include a wreck.  Cost is £25 for 2 dives.  Those who have expressed interest in this are:

Hi all
The list so far is
Dot
Pete

Ross

Frazer
Liam?
We have to be in Largs Marina for 9am.  I would suggest we meet at the cage at 7am (sorry for the early start) and be on our way by 7.30.  That gives us 1.5 hours to get there and allows for traffic hold ups.  Was thinking we might do a wreck..possibly the Wallachia then a scenic on Trail Island.  will need to check with the boat captain though.

Charlie...I did answer this but I done it at work and I don't think it went through.  The boat is the Flying Eagle.  Hope all is well with you.  We miss you at the club.  Take care

Hey Dot
My sister lives in Skelmorlie (about 10 minutes this side of Largs) and I allow an hour and a quarter to get to her place from my house ....and my driving!!....  so your hour and a half may be a bit on the light side.  With the roadworks on the M80 you might be better going over by Balloch and then over the Erskine Bridge.
Just an idea..
Hope that you all have a good time

if keith is saying it'll be a bit longer, then it may be a shout to get kit ready tomorrow so we can just leave; i'm not being earlier than 7.

does it matter if we're a bit late or are we tight on the tide?

DSMBs are a MUST if we are doing the Wallachia, as its in the ferry lane!! even if we aren't there should be at least 1 per buddy pair!

also, is someone (ie Dot) going to check with the skipper tomorrow morning about weather etc? the weather over here has been HORRIFIC for the last day and a half, blowing a gale, torrential rain, thunder and lightning etc etc, all fine for shore dives (minus the lightning) but not so hot for a boat dive in the middle of the Firth of Clyde!!

great day

Well! what can I say.  We all made it to Largs marina on time (even Frazer).  A great day for all who went on this trip.  For many there it was their first hard boat dive and their first dive in the Clyde.  Although the weather had been dire all week the skipper suggested that the Akka would be a suitable dive for us.... 18m down to 44m so we could choose our own depths.  Although very dark down there the viz was not any worse than usual and the wreck was absolutely covered in life.

Next was a nice relaxed dive on a wall off trail island.  This wall starts at about 9m and goes down in steps to about 40m so again you can pick which depth suits you.

After the final divers were safely back aboard the sun came out, we had seals swimming round the boat and a few porpoise swimming not far away.  The skipper then took us back towards Largs abd on the way showed us a couple of dolphins that herd the fish into a feeding ball by swimming round and round a big green buoy.

What else can you ask for from a days diving...except good fish and chips then a Nardini ice cream.

it was a brilliant day!! i think we should do it again - very soon!! if you take 10 divers its only 20quid a head - and you cant complain for that!! even the £28 we paid each was WELL worth it!!

John was saying he's pretty quiet so far so plenty opportunity to book!! could even do a weekend, 2 days on the boat £40-50 + some cheap digs somewhere near largs!! bargain for 2 days diving!!
