chamber dive!So I've just returned frrom my first no-drysuit UK dive! And boy was it HOT!
The dive site:
This is our large chamber. This can accomodate 8 people, has a maximum operating pressure of 100m rarely used passed 40m, takes NHS patients and commercial diving trainees. On the back left you can see two small Comex chambers, top one is for diving emergencies and it's connected to a lower one that's all mine to play with!! They can be pressurised to 200m ! (sweet
) and the lower chamber flooded with water....... I feel an experiement coming on.
Chamber is staffed by attendant (in chamber) Dive operator on the panel below, and dive supervisor. Site is cat 1 NHS, so has full resus facilities and specialist hyperbaric doctors.
Site entry!:
First small room is medical lock. Todays 'divers' were all staff, and one nurse had to come back to the suface after ear problems, so she can do this in the medical lock without affecting the main chamber.
The Dive!
EXTRA bonus points if you can tell me what gas law causes the upward curves of the profile at 7m and 31m ?? and why!
Simple concepts hyperbaric chambers: air goes in, air comes out. pressure goes up, and so on. The chamber stopped at 7m after 30 seconds and the nurse left then, carried on down to 30m. 3:30 on bottom, then ascent. Dive computer showed max. 160% ascent alarm on red line. Stopped on 3m and breather 100% O2, although no stop was required. This is company's safety policy, for those of you interested....the DDRC use Canadian DCIEM tables, they are not the most consevative tables! (see red line above!) but they are the most researched!
I'm quite sleepy now! any questions? I'd be happy to help.
poor quality video below, this wasn't todays dive, filmed this on fone! I will be putting the dvd'd copy of todays one on my research website soon, keep you posted!
Hope mid semester was good for you all!?
