Corporate Manslaughter...what a fun post

As mentioned in last nights meeting the new corporate manslaughter rules now mean we have to register any car as well as its destination and passengers with the SU before any club trip.

I spoke with the SU secretery, Gillian, today and she confirmed that any trip using any club equipment was deemed as a club trip.

However, if you own all your equipement we don't have to provide a trip list or even have the car registered.

I think it might be worth just getting all club members cars registered as quickly as possible just so that we are covered, I don't know exactly how many members have all their own kit but I'm guessing that most students won't have everything.

I know its a pain but we might as well play along. It can't hurt in the long run, its just a small hassle now.

Hiya could you pick up some forms then for us non students that have the pleasure of driving you lot to lovely dive sites. Cheers Erika x

P.S. "I told you so" re club kit and trips, i love being right!!!

Manslaughter is a terrible, terrible thing.  Womens laughter is even worse !! Very Happy

Can someone pick up a couple of vehicle registration forms for me as well ? I'm guessing that they will want a copy of tax, insurance and MOT (if required) for their files but if somone can check before next week I'll dig my stuff out and copy it .

BTW, while we are doing all this updating stuff, how often do the minibus drivers need to be retested for the Uni insurance, etc ?

I spoke to the woman in the office about that for myself, but she said that because we have two drivers already - gus and erika, they focus on getting every club up to 2, so we're near the bottom of the list unfortunatly
Keith

I'm also on the Uni list.  I did the test just before the trip to Puffins earlier in the year (when you, me and Rosar went up in my car) just in case we needed an emergency driver and Erika was incapacitated !!  I'm guessing that those on the bus felt safer, eh ???

hiya you don't need to worry about the minibus stuff this year keith from memory it was every 2 years that they make you sit the test again. But they may want an up todate copy of your licence to make sure that you haven't gained any convictions or been banned from driving since last year. yada yada yada red tape and all that crap.

How on earth could I possibly pick up any points ??  I slow down for hedgehogs....
I'll copy my licence just so the club has it on file.  May as well get all the bureaucratic crap out of the way at the start of the year.
Ashley will be happy that she became a secretary ..!!

Includingthe forms that the SU want its both parts of your licence and then insurance and MOT certificates.

Although when we spoke to Greg (SU president) he made it clear that once registered the trip forms only needed to be in a couple of hours before the trip...which was nice. Smile
