Eyemouth Boat DiveLovely couple of dives today, thanks to Dot organising it with her friend Alex in Eyemouth. Had a chance to meet Don Lees for the first time. Diving with Dot & her pal Pete (he of Corryvreckan fame )
First dive was to Hawkness Caves. Many pipefish again. Wow: fantastic amounts of life on the vertical walls. Amazing deadmen's fingers, anemones and a multitude of critters in the crevices including a well-concealed octopus - well done, Dot. Spotted a big flatfish in a crevice beside a crab: the first time I remember seeing a flattie not on the bottom. There were 2 caves to explore, but due to the bountiful life we only made it around one of them. A definite site to return to in the future
Porpoises came to visit us during our surface interval, which was nice
Second dive was at Agate Point which some of us previously dived last year. This time, we didn't bother trying to find the less-than-impressive wreck of The President (not GW sadly) which is basically just a boiler. Instead we did manage to find the archway, which was glorious. So great, in fact, that I led us through it twice! Who cares about going a little over dive-time Nice lobsters and a butterfish (see below).
Practised sending my dSMB up: I'll get it honed at some point (at least I haven't been propelled up with it... yet)
Just raise some funds & you can join in next semester
