Hi, my name is Charlie & I'm an alcoholi... oh, sorry, wrong forum!

OK, surprise surprise I like diving! And so do you, I hope! Strangely, some people don't, but they're not really worth bothering about too much! Even more bizarrely, for some, the thought of submerging yourself in 7 degree C Scottish seawater and then doing mad exercises such as removing your mask just to replace it again doesn't appeal. But then when we have fantastic days out such as last weekend, it really makes it all worthwhile.

This is a brill idea Charlie and I hope everyone starts to use it. Excellent for organising dive trips in advance. Unfortunately I am out of action until the end of this month due to prior commitments ( and yes I know, most people think I should be committed).

Ah, a rarely used forum. What fun. Unlike my brother, I won't try to stimulate conversation by shouting "I Love You Guys!" (and amazingly it usually manages to get people talking, go figure).

Oh, I guess I should introduce myself. Hi, my name's Max and I'm from Nevada and the middle of the desert. Oddly enough, many people in the desert are hardcore divers ... strange but true. I'm not one of them yet, but give me time. Smile

I do have a certain fondness for large amounts of dihydrogen oxide, I guess that's a prerequesite.

It'll be nice to get to know you all over the next few months.

Yep, I've heard of Bakersfield (I almost considered moving there, I wisely thought better of it). My dad used to drive trains from Roseville (near Sacramento) to Bakersfield. I always wondered why there was a Navy base near there. Who can fathom the motives of bureaucracy? They probably thought it was on an island. I have a rather dim view of military (un)intelligence, can you tell?

Yep, I've been to Lost Wages (I mean Las Vegas) a couple times. It's about 8 hours away so it's not exactly something I do every day. It's fun just to walk the strip and see all the shows the casinos put on outside. You know the second to last scene from Ocean's 11 with the fountains outside the Bellagio? I've been there (stayed in the hotel too). It's pretty cool. Treasure Island is my favorite. They bring out two big ships in the lake out front and have them battle until one sinks. It's all scripted and the cannons aren't real but it's still pretty cool. Smile

And no, I don't gamble. Besides being too young, I know too many people who've lost too much money. A natural consequence of living in Sin City's baby sister.

Hawaii's nice but it's pricey and touristy.
