lidl stuffjust to let everyone know that as of 10th of this month lidl are have the dive kit again. a depleted version of last years lot but still very cheap torches masks etc.http://www.lidl.co.uk/uk/home.nsf/pages/c.o.20070510.index.ar11 the closest one i know of is in alloa. cheers |

Torches are good as back-up items I'll also have a look & see what the SMB/strobe combo looks like |

I ended up buying a few bits of kit:
mask: design similar to Cressi Big Eyes style: i.e. lots of viz looking downwards + side panel allowing some side vision shorty wet suit: cheap 'n' cheerful torch: same as last year's: LED effort 4AA - good as back-up or primary if you don't have a better torch SMB/strobe/whistle (seems very cheap for what you get): - base level dSMB but with better sized inflation baffle than cheeky's cheap one. Also has lead tape around baffle to keep it erect (!) on the surface. Comes with 6m (I think) of line and a counter weight. To deploy, you would unravel the line from its holder & inflate. - LED strobe light stick - looks the same as Aquatec model http://www.aquatec.co.uk/pages/accessories/aquanova.php - standard fin-shaped diving whistle stainless steel carabiners: standard design The OW fins looked quite good too. If you want stuff you'd better be quick as the shop was full of divers this morning! |

ok i have an exam tomorrow so i am studying but if what you say is true, chuck, then it may be worth taking a trip during one of my study breaks.
if anyone is on here and wants to go let me know, think ill go at about 4, its in alloa so i could pick people up at the coop. cheers |

those open water fins look exactly like the northern diver ones aquatron sell for 40 notes!! |

The open water fins looked nice but the buckles didn't look to strong to me but and easy part to change. I also purchased some bits a shorty wetsuit and torch.

Yes, the torch is nice. I gave it a try in the pool last night. Those fins looked nice but a bit on the small side. I didn't see any larger ones.
