my first and last dive(from height)along the same lines- a non scuba dive,
summer 2005 when the long days were warm even in skye myself and a few friends(and colleagues) went to a nearby river to rid our hair of some of that days salt from sailing.
said river was very peaty so vis was about 3cm, there is a decent jump there(say 30') and having jumped and done somersaults numerous times a dive off the top was next, basically when it was my shot i chickened out, after i jamp. so just before my hands hit the water i folded them in, when i hit the water my face was first then my feet hit the back of my head and i was fairly winded.
apparently amusing to watch.
lesson, dont dive off something high when you cant dive off something low.
i'm sticking to the lowest of the low diving.
cheers

I sympathize. My cousins pushed me off a cliff in Minnesota a few years ago. I think it was about 20 feet to the water. That was the same night they tied two canoes together with logs to make a catamaran and we got 10 people with paddles to go across the lake. It's amazing how fast we got going.

I once jumped of the side of a castle into a lagoon in south wales, people told me there were congos in there. Being young and niave i thought they didn't exist. Now i would think twice about accidently sticking my foot in a dark hole

Um..... suppresses mental picture of rows of very small divers dancing in a line around the bottom of the dark hole at the bottom of a river kicking their legs occasionally in time to music.......
