old piers,19th septIn the absence of chuck from last nights trip, my first dive in 17 without him, i though i should relay the pleasures.
A few of us went diving last night, namely Euan, Fraser Joe and i.
After much glorious faffing(i took 50 mins to get from town to the cage, and i set off late) we managed into the water just as it was getting dark.
We saw;
eggs, in various states, .
lots and lots of little flat fish,
a tadpole fish,
a very lively big conger, i recon it was at least 5' long and had Euan looking behind himself for the rest of the dive as he was convinced it was after him.
a tub gurnard which was very obliging, it stuck out it wings, very nice colours, walked along on its 'legs' and stayed still when i turned it upside down. very pretty.
also saw saithe, remarkable number of scorpion fish, young(i think, rather than poor)cod,very small pipefish, i.e. 1mm thickness, and a viviparous blenny at the end.
And we fitted all those things into just one hour.
Joe got his first use of his very shiny new regs which seemed to supply ample air to him at all depths we ventured to! which is handy.
Back to the cage before eleven due to post dive sandwiches carside rather than a pub.
Good stuff it was and could only possibly have been improved had fraser and euan been persuaded to stop singing runrig.
cheers
