Just had a friend round my place showing off his brand new polar bear front entry Explorer suit. It has the user replaceable seals- not my cup of tea. The suit looks the monkeys bits though.

He has a contact at the factory (they are about 30 miles from where I am in Plymouth) and the company are selling off made to order suits that have not been collected. These are being sold off at a major (up to 50%) discount as they can't sell them to the public cos it'll undermine the sales of their new suits.

As it happens, I am visiting the owner of Polar Bears tomorrow so if you have any after sales queries (servicing etc) then I can ask while I am there.

I know two divers who swear by their Polars, they previously had ND cortex and Otter Brittania suits, but claim they'd never go back!

Hope this helps?

Do you have any details about the second hand one? I can let you know what the knocked-down price is....

Ta loads Smile Ive heared the ND cortex are full of flaws, our dive shops stopped stocking em. I know nothing about the britanica's I'll give this Polar bears suit a run for its money, I will get a full new dive rig year after next, just gonna repair what Ive got for next season. My house needs some cash spending on it and I need a replacement car Smile which is all a little more important than diving hahaha

Why not?

its something to with the fact that they eat seals, which eat fish, which eat krill, which eat plankton which accumulate heavy metals and other such toxins from the water column. as such, as you go up the food chain, the amount of accumulated crap in each individual increases, so by the time you hit the top of the food chain, ie the polar bears, they are full of toxins. toxins accumulate in the liver!! arctic explorers from the days of yore used to eat the bears livers when they ran out of food, and then started complainning about how dead they were!! i think....not sure if i was paying full attention in class that day.....

I keep thinking that this post is gonna be about real polar bears and, no offence to the authors, I end up alittle dissapointed. Could we start one somewhere else?
