Reg Set Up

I should probably go read the Sport Diver book but I dinnae ken how tae read a at fancy english ken. But i am being lazy and not going to bother.

Anyhoo....

In ScotSAC, does it matter which side your octopus comes from? your right or left shoulder for instance?

????

Depends what way up you put your cylinder Very Happy

As far as I know ScotSAC don't have any rules: having an octopus is not actually compulsory, but is highly recommended.

My understanding is that it's pretty much down to personal preference. Most of us seem to have the octo coming from the left, but some divers (including I think our ex-regional coach, wear it to the right). I already have my primary reg & pony reg on the right, so think that it's better on my left.

I think that the reason that some people suggest the left is that it may be easier for your buddy to use it if you're face to face, but you can still manage with the alternative set up if required: just position yourselves obliquely as for shared DV ascents. Problems can arise if your octopus has a short hose: size matters in this context. Wink Important also to make sure that you can breathe easily from your own octopus. Smile

i think it depends on the cotopus.
pretty sure if i put mine coming from the right then it would be upside down for any prospective buddy breathers.

good good

Not if you position yourselves the same as you would if you were sharing your DV with your buddy. That's what I was referring to (rather ambiguously obviously) in my post. Wink

Ok guys, cheers.
It is just that I have both my 2nd stages coming from my right now for reasons to do with some padi muck and just wondered if I was compromising ssac. It is easier for you to use your alternate air source and just as easy for a buddy, put it behind your head and use it or stay side on to one another.

Basically it does not really matter then...
This is a rather intelligent conversation for a change!

Its just whatever way is the best for you to find and provide in a hurry really, as long as your buddy is clear on its whereabouts in the buddy check it's all good.

I'm still alive by the way dudes, just all a bit manic with flat buying (move in next week), work and setting up another company (limited this time no less!).
