Roa Island (or is it a peninsula) Barrow in FurnessDived this site sunday, dive is in a channel round the south side of the island(find it on google earth) Depth was 15M, duration 57 mins, you can only dive this on low tide safely, its an active shipping channel, quite scary when the boats go over dive went fine, went in 30 mins befor slack, out going water washing away the silt, viz 3M Massive array of life, sea fans, carpets of brittle stars, flat fish, anemonies, crabs, huge sea snails and loadsa soft corals n sponges. towards the end of the dive I experienced my first complete loss of viz, and I mean complete. I couldn't sea my buddy untill I was 3 inches off his face, every direction we went just led into blackness. Thankfully after maybe 5 long minutes buddy (who was leading) managed to navigate back the way we came. Very weird tho, laying on bottom, with torch, can't see bottom. At first we though we were under the lifeboat station but I recon the tide had turned and the wall of gue was actualy the tide slowly starting to bring silt in.

i've been wanting to do this dive for ages, its pretty much the only dive in morecambe bay. unless you fancy a 30mph drift dive out to the irish sea.

I was with the nice people from the lancashire marine conservation society. You could join their group, then you could go on that dive with them. Despite the low vis the dive is very interesting, every square inch of the sea bed has something growing/living on/in it. true everythings brown green white or yellow but still an impressive array of flaura n fauna.

What about a submarine

I know nothing about submarines, I should imagine you would need to fit a submarine with wheels for it to go on land, would have to ask the wife if these can crawl on land, she knows about these things.
