Shiny Orange BCD

£1000 for a shiny orange Buddy Commando Slimline BCD. Excellent condition apart from no suicide bottle, a leaky inflator button (easily sorted) and a bit of a dodgy left shoulder pinch clip. As stunnigly moddeled here... guffaw http://www.susaonline.org.uk/soci...photos.php?s=133&photoid=8980

Either that or I oculd donate it to the club, if the club wants it.

What have you replaced it with, scubaeuan? A wing for your twin-set Question
scubaeuan

lol no, i wish though. I got another 2nd hand one . Its a newer shiny black one. I asked about replacing the clip and getting inflator sorted but i was quoted 50 to send it back to ap vlaves for a new clip and 10 for a service.
Nah

Another Buddy one?

You been getting some good dives recently?

Gus and I joined Dot & the Stirling bunch for The Falls of Lora on Sunday: it was cool!

Was it? ace! Mon pere was telling me about this dive of the West Coast of Scotland. Its a whirlpool, apparently this world famous diver gadgy said it was the only time he was scared because of the vis and the fact that the bubbles were going down instead of up!
Yeh its a buddy commando TD, its in good nick, if a little bit colour faded wise. The suicide bottle bit has been blanked off aswell so happy with that. My diving recntly has all been training, but its been goood yeh.
Technical question here chuck. Your suicide bottle, as it is pressurised to a max of 232 bar a i presume. Like a cylinder (12L for instance) have to be hydrostatically tested and visually inspected every year or so?
How was the drift diving like?
Maybe you should write a blog?

Would imagine that your dad is talking about Corryvreckan. It's supposed to be about the most challenging dive in the UK. Has your dad done it? Dot's buddy on Sunday was telling us about his (very hairy) experience of the dive.

The drift was quite extreme: we were hanging on to rocks & barnacles. More like rock climbing than diving! Fingers of gloves shredded & fingertips are red raw (still got tape on them as I write). Was quite an experience! Would like to do it another time.

Will write a blog soon...

NO to the mon pere question, it loooks scary does it not. Somthing to do before you die though maybe. Or maybe not looking at it again! Clipping yourself to the shot line! with ascenders and descenders like in rock climbing maybe. Im pooping myself already. Nothing like the safety of Loch Fyne! How far did you drift? and at what depth?
charlie

We didn't drift as far as the buddy pair that had to be retrieved by the boat: they were half way to Fish & Chips in Oban Exclamation Gus & I got out at the slipway at the viewpoint car park. Guess we drifted for 150-200m at a depth of 15-17m. Keeping together was the biggest concern (another of the buddy pairs became separated leading to aborting the dive). I was breathing like a steam train, so had to end the dive after 25 min. Would definitely adopt a different tactic next time: Gus thought we were trying to go right across the channel to the north shore Exclamation
gus

i would have made it to the other side, though i'm glad charlie was a little heavier on the air as by the time mine had run out i think my fingers would have been down to the knuckles. new gloves time.

good good

Sorry, I missed this question before. Emergency cylinder (mine is 232 Bar, but you can get 300 Bar ones too methinks) should be tested after 5 years http://www.apvalves.com/aftersales.html#cyl
mwatson

suicide bottles arn't/weren't covered and didn't require testing(which is why their lethal) Smile My spiro ABLJ had one on. I now have a wing......which will kill me if I pass out on the surface.....great huh.

I went diving with some padi AOW divers who were all convinced I should be using my wing as aditional compensation as well as my drysuit hahahaha its no wonder there are so many deaths(I shouldn't laugh) Not one of them knew what an ABLJ was. o so sad.
