St Caths N Reef / Anchor Bay / Caves 26/27 Oct

on friday, the first stop was st caths to check out my new bcd and cheeky's new suit. all went well, very nice dive, vis was great although not a great deal to see. decided to go for a cheeky evening dive at anchor, but caught the tides wrong so we got swept about quite a bit, still saw few nice edibles, nice butterfish and the usual anchor bay critters.
on saturday gus and joe joined us and we had a very eventful car trip to the caves, via a single track road which was partially blocked with some HUGE highland coos. anyway, 2 really good dives at the caves, vis again was brilliant, as was family guy in between dives!! first dive found a nice conger and basically enjoyed the scenery, second dive me and cheeky did our good deed for the day and rescued a big edible from fishing line.
mwatson

promise me you didn't then eat it?
Scotty Boy

nope we let it go!! mainly cos it tried to have cheekys fingers off him!! didn't look in a very good state to be honest, we thoughtit had been there for a while! shame, cos he was an absolute cracker!!
charlie

sounds like good diving... wish i could have been there

how deep did you go scott? be honest now Embarassed
Scotty Boy

deepest was the first dive at the caves when we and cheeky hit 29.7m

and i have my computer to prove!!

ps. after seeing it during the day, i would love to do caves at night, although that entry would be mighty interesting in the dark!!!
gus

cheeky bimbling about with his side slung was a sight to behold.

tip top vis at the caves though. very nice diving.

cheers
joe

i'm told i'll never see that again, looked good!
charlie

good viz at the Caves is certainly elusive: I've only seen really good conditions there once (15m horiz viz)
joe

viz doesn't always mean you can see your buddy. i learnt that on Sat, if your behind them, they can't see you and if they are round a corner you can't see them. Rolling Eyes
gus

just like on dry land then joe,
its prob about 2 mile vis at the moment and yet i cant see hardly anyone out of my window, or people behind me - even ones trapped in fishing line.

indeed good vis does not mean your buddy will see you, thats good buddying you're needing. never mind, i've got time to learn.

cheers
charlie

Gus has learnt a lot in the last while... he's an infinitely more considerate buddy than he used to be!
joe

Gus i think your a very good buddy
