Tank Safety

I came across an incident recently which might amuse you all.

I was shadowing at the vet teaching hospital yesterday and one of the students was changing the oxygen tanks for the respirator in the exotics ward.  He took the old one off and set it to one side as he turned to put the new one on.  I was then treated to listening to one of the clinicians lecture the student on the evils of leaving a compressed gas tank standing upright with suitably graphic descriptions of the consequences of blowing a pillar valve through several feet of solid concrete.

Needless to say, I was at that moment happy for my sub-aqua training, having proved once again that it has many wide-ranging applications (I've also been able to throw down a good word or two on oxygen toxicity recently).  Smile
