Tarbert Diving 13th/14th SeptemberHello people of Stirling and beyond!! Was just chatting with Frazer to try and organise a wee dive weekend in early September!! I emailed different places and the people from fyne diving seem to organise good boat diving from Tarbert, so was just wondering who would all be up for it? So far we've got:

i could well be keen,
would this be a super early start from stir on the day of the diving or are you thinking a night somewhere closer.
think the inverary youth hostel is meant to be quite good.
if its a boat of 12 you need to fill then i'm sure frazer has mentioned that the s(trath)usac guys seemed keen on joining us if on trips.
is there space on the boat in early september, and which date?

we were thinking the weekend of the 13th/14th, because it's the weekend before freshers so people will be back in the area.

Hello,
Unfortunatly we weren't able to get any space on the 13th or 14th, but we were able to get space on the 6th or 7th.
Alternativly we could look into finding another boat, or just having some shore dives at some new sites or something, but if we did want the boat sure we would need to book it quickly.
what're people thinking?

I'd like to go for the Saturday but can't stay for Sunday as I have a meeting in London first thing on Monday and have to fly.

ok, well if folk are skint and what not, because i've spoken to Rachael and she said she wouldn't be able to make the other weekend, so how does some kick ass shore dives sound for the saturday, and again on the sunday if anyone still wants to?

Brilliant, well what dive sites are people thinking?
I know that i haven't dived the st. abbs area yet this year and would quite like to do that, weather permitting.
Is that alright with everyone, or are there other sites that people would like to dive?

I've heard a sneaky rumor that Ben is able to come, drive and is offering a BBQ at his in the evening, but on the other hand he's offered things like this in the past ....

I am a maybe not sure as yet as i might go away sailing with my parents that weekend.

What time would we be diving on the Saturday ? Are we now set on St Abbs or are there any other plans ?

What time would people like to meet? If we met later we could get a lie in but then also would be back later too, but we could do it as we normally do and meet at 8 or 9.
Personally i think because we all have our own kit we can afford to say meet at half nine be on the road for ten, arrive by lunchtime and have an afternoon of diving, we would be ready to leave the cage by about 7ish, which i think is entirely reasonable.
any thoughts?

So we are just going for a dive on Saturday and then back home right ?? I may be staying in Edinburgh on Friday as my daughter is going to an open day at Edinburgh Uni (yes I can hear you all spitting !) on Friday and it may make more sense for me just to travel down to St Abbs rather than going back to Stirling and then down again. I could take four tanks down and some kit if someone can get me access to the new cage in advance during the week. I could easily be there by noon or earlier if anyone wanted. The one thing that I would recommend is that we find out when high tide is, as it is a bloody long walk to the sea when the tide is out ( eh Erika !!)

Parking at that time of day may be a problem. Also it's about £5 per car i think. I will not be diving this weekend as i'm going away sailing with my parents, it will probably be my last chance to see them before December. Oh to be retired and spend half your time away on hoilday, incase anyone is interested their off to Spain and then back for a day before going to Argentina and from there off on a cruise of the antartic to see lots of penguins, nice eh.

hello,
just a few thoughts,
as erica mentioned the parking is expensive in st abbs, £10, it used to be only a fiver but not anymore i dont think.
getting there late would mean a great lack of spaces for parking.
planning a trip for the east coast is risky, always have a west coast back up plan and check the swell before you leave. Ive got to east coast sites and had to cancel too many times.
if you are still after some food from the sea then remember st abbs area is a no take zone, voluntary, but its pretty well enforced and other divers would not approve.
i'm still undecided as to wither i shall join in on the diving, shall see how funds are going.

That's a good call about the west coast back up, does anyone have any favourite sites on the west coast they'd want to dive?

you'r a week behind pig boy! it's next weekend!! anyhoo, due to my current financial situation and my impending trip im having to work next weekend so make some much needed pennies, won't be diving with you dudes until im bk from the seychelles!!

I thought that it had been pulled in by a week ! Just as well I didn't drive down then. Will see if I can do something for next week then.... But it depends if I've got my regs back from service along with my big tank (I need more air than you mere mortals as you know!!!). Who else is still going ??

what shop did u put ur regs into? i put mine into aquatron a MONTH ago and still no word! outside contractor etc etc usual excuses!!

the dive shop in Edinburgh. They said about a week for the regs and two weeks for the tanks

yeh, aquatron told me it was a two week turnaround, can;t afford to pay it at the moment anyway so hopefully they phone when i'm away and the rents can pick up the tab!!

I have just found out that I need to travel on Thursday and Friday on business and may not be back in time for a trip on Saturday.....if I get back on Friday at all !
