Wet Wok

My name's Graham and I'm an Aquaholic, it's been exactly 5 months (eeek) since my last splash.

Here's the dive site...... the old harbour has a nice set of steps down to the water
on the left hand side (if you're looking out to sea) green arrow (opposite tennis court is my house!)
Go horizontally right 'til you hit the water, site is in front of kiddies playground (hiya McWhinnie!)

Here's the blog........got a phone call at 5pm asking if I wanted a little bimble in the shallows (that's a firkle to you Sam!).
By 5.20 I was at the site, in the water by 5.35.
Had a max depth of 6m (yeah, that aint a typo....not missing a 0 there!)
dive time 47 mins, viz was poor (3m) water was lukewarm (comp says 9 deg) saw plenty, but not tons of life;

Here's the marine life: (excuse any mistakes, I aint no sea biologist)

Lesser sand eels (see thru mesmerizing fishes!)
Poor cod
Red scorpion fish (just like Turkey!)
Pollack
Dragonets
Squat lobsters (both Galathea Strigosa and Galathea Squamifera)
Common hermit crabs
Eddible (!) crabs
Velvet swimming crabs (Females carrying eggs)
Common prawns
Burrowing anemone (?)
Snakelock anemone
Sand mason
Crater sponge
Gooseberry Seaaquirt
Breadcrumb sponge
Some flatfish (couldn't identify the fellow)
possibly a mackerel, but by all accounts very much the wrong time of year? had a green back tho, will check ID book
some nice shells too mostly had chaps living in them

Heard some boat traffic while we were down there, not unusual for Plymouth sound,
turned out to be a nooclear submarine complete with polis escort and tugs!
I doved with a submarine!!

7pm Kit washed, hanging over the bath drying, Karyn serving up cottage pie and garden peas....and I don't even live in a cottage.

Ah, it's good to be back, it's true what they say, you never forget...just like falling off a bicycle.

Safe diving

Ha: cheeky_diver lives!

Good to get back in the water, eh? Was that your refresher dive before doing your 40m dive-of-death?

Sounds as if there was lots of life: well spotted in such viz. Shame you didn't get closer to the sub - they'd make great UW scooters I'd wager.

Keep us posted on your experiences.
