we have 4 new forum members which is great Smile

intros would be good: we're more likely to take the friendly ones out diving! Just ask Max & Vasilis from last year: they were uber keen & were the guys who got trained & qualified quickly Wink

no new members on easyfundraising though Evil or Very Mad Embarassed

Hey guys!
Then I'll be the first one to introduce myself.
I'm a French with a 3-stars CMAS qualification since June of this year. I usually dive in lakes (in one lake in fact) and sometimes in the south of France or in Brittany.
Scotland seems to be a good place to dive so I'm looking forward to do it! If of course you're not afraid of diving with a French guy.
That's about all I can say about me.

Hello, I suppose I should introduce myself as I'm the aforementioned Max. I'm now living in the middle of a desert (quite literally) but I still maintain hopes of diving in the future. I think you'll enjoy Scottish diving (I did, possibly too much).

Yeah still planning to dive in my wetsuit! Except if you can lend me a drysuit of course. But I never dived with one so if you see a balloon floating it will be me!

You might find a wetsuit a bit on the nippy side. I've been cold in a drysuit (though, frankly, it was Maxwell's which is so thin you can almost see through it; it doesn't leak though).

I've seen a few people dive in wetsuits here. They were all a bit fruity and they never evr did a second dive the same day.

i've seen many people dive in scotland in thick wetsuits or semi-drys and they have not only been happy but also have done more than one dive in a day, our BDO included.

however as shug says the most memorable occasions are the people who became a little chilled.

welcome all new people to the forum,

cheers

S'pose so, but as someone with close to no natural insulation, I need all the help I can get. The dive where I got the coldest was also one of my favorites though so it just goes to show... (incidentally, that's the one you led at Ballachulish).

I will surely be a little cold even if I am used to diving in cold waters (even under ice) in a wetsuit. But as I said if the club has got drysuits to lend I'd be happy to try one.

Hiya, the club has a selection of dry suits which you can use. The training officer and BDO will arrange for you to do a dry suit training dive in the uni swimming pool to get you used to using one before heading out into open water. In the summer months the water temp can be around 10/11 degrees but the rest of the year it can be totally freezing. So in my opinion always borrow a dry suit from the club.

Yeah a training would be good! 10 to 11 in the summer? Are you serious?
